Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme success in 2021

We are delighted to announce that 40 members of Girlguiding Ulster successfully completed the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in 2021.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is an internationally recognised challenge for young people. The scheme is open to Girlguiding Ulster members. There are 3 award levels, and each has 4 sections: volunteering, physical, skills-development and an expedition. Some adjustments have been made to allow young members to safely achieve their award while Covid restrictions remain in place.

Bronze Award (members aged 14+)

15 members from the following units completed the award. This award takes a minimum of 6 months to complete:

· 1st Hillsborough Guides

· 1st Mountnorris Ranger Guides

· 1st Randalstown Rangers

· Lisnaskea Guide and Senior Section

· North Fermanagh Rangers

· Ruddington Rangers

· Slemish Look Wider Rangers

Silver Award (members aged 15+)

23 members from the following units completed the award. This award takes a minimum of 12 months to complete:

· 1st Aghadowey Guides

· 1st Ballinderry Rangers

· 1st Cullybackey Rangers

· 1st Hillsborough Guides

· 1st Mountnorris Guides

· 1st Portstewart Guides

· Glendermott Guides

· Lisnaskea Guide and Senior Section

· Ruddington Rangers

Gold (members aged 16+)

2 members successfully completed the Gold award which usually takes at 18 months to complete and includes an additional residential.
