GGU Social walking group is starting in April with one walk per month across a range of different areas and terrain.
We welcome novice walkers as well as experts and hope to encourage more leaders to have the confidence to take our young girls out walking and experience the lovely scenery on our doorstep!
Each walk will be led by a qualified walking leader - details of each walk are in the programme.
Dates & Locations:
- Sunday 7th April starting at 10am. Meeting point: Torr Head carpark (D234404) Distance: 10km. Description: Terrain: Moderate, hard in places over short distances, following lanes and tracks, crossing a stream, fences and a rocky beach, handrailing a stream.
- Saturday 4th May starting at 10am. Meeting point: Ballypatrick forest car park (right hand side coming from Ballycastle, just before Watertop farm). Grid ref D188378 Distance: 14km. Description: Forest track, Crockaneel, Vanishing lake, Drovers track. Approx. 250m ascent.
- Sunday 2nd June starting at 10am. Meeting point: Meelmore car park, Newcastle. Distance 11km. Description: Meelmore, Polaphucca, Ott stile, Fofany, Meelmore.
- Saturday 6th July starting at 10am. Meeting point: Portballintrae Council Car park at the end of Beach Road in Portballintrae OS Sheet 5 C929423. Distance: 10kg. Description: Pathways, beach, numerous steps from Giant's Causeway to top path.
- Sunday 4th August starting at 10am. Meeting point: Carntogher way car park, Tirkane road, Maghera Distance: 10km. Description: TBC
- Sunday 1st September starting at 9.45am. Meeting point: Donard car park Newcastle. Distance: 10km Description: TBC
