ICE GGU South

What is ICE?

Every year, hundreds of girls in Girlguiding take part in international trips which open up a world of adventure, new people and amazing opportunities. Whether you hop across the water to England or fly around the globe to Mexico, there are unforgettable experiences waiting for you.

For many young people, the thought of an international trip can be overwhelming – and that is why we have ICE! ICE (International Community Experience) is an exciting 3-stage project open to Girlguiding Ulster members aged 11 – 13. Over three weekends, it brings girls together to have fun, whilst offering them the opportunity to think about their community and do something for others. It also gives them the chance to improve their camping skills, increase their global awareness, and provides them with a gentle introduction to international adventures.

Who can take part?

Anyone who has an interest in finding out about Girlguiding International opportunities. Guides can come along as a group or on their own. They don’t need any previous camp or residential experience.

All participants must be at least 11 at the time of Stage 1, and no older than 13 on completion of Stage 3. Guides must be a member of Girlguiding Ulster.

Guides must take part in all three stages. Maximum of 20 spaces available.

What can I do after ICE?

ICE is a great way to find out about further international opportunities within Girlguiding. Many previous participants have gone on to take part in Girlguiding Ulster's annual INTOPS (INTernational OPportunitieS) event, with many representing Girlguiding Ulster at international events overseas and in the UK!
