A Safe Space Training for 14-17 year olds
Date & Time: Tuesday 13th January 2026 starting at 7.30pm - 9pm
If you’re under 18 yrs old, a young leader, peer educator, doing your lead away permit, or doing your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) through Girlguiding, you should complete A Safe Space for 14-17-year-olds.
The training is an e-learning which you can do on the Girlguiding learning platform.
We recommend that you complete the 14-17 e-learning for volunteering at your unit meetings and you must complete it before attending any residential events or doing your lead away permit.
This webinar is for 14-17 year olds who can’t access the e-learning on the learning platform.
We will need permission from your parent or carer to allow you to join the Webinar and you should also let your Unit Leader know you are going to do it.
The training will take you through:
- Your role as a leader and the basics you need to know about safety.
- How to plan for risks and deal with them when they come up unexpectedly.
Safeguarding and knowing what to do when someone tells you something worrying is important.
Please note: once you've had your 18th birthday, you’ll need to make sure you’re in an adult role in guiding. You’ll then have 80 days to complete the Safer Guiding Training.
If you are aged 14-17yrs by the date of the training, your parent/guardian can book you a place on this webinar.
Once you have booked your place on this webinar your parent/carer will receive a confirmation email that your booking was successful. If they do not receive this please ask them to contact lee@girlguidingulster.org.uk.
Bookings will close at 12 noon on Tuesday 6th January 2026.
After booking, your parent/carer will receive an email with permission form attached. This must be completed and returned to lee@girlguiding.org.uk by Monday 12th January 2026.
Your parent/carer will then receive a zoom link via their email by 3pm on the day of the training.
